BLIK BLIK Nevřeň - 2025
Echoes of the Pilsen BLIK BLIK festival will take place on 11–13 April 2025 in the kaolin mine in Nevřeň.
The village of Nevřeň, with 300 inhabitants, is probably the smallest village in the world to host a light festival. The unique underground environment of the kaolin mine serves as the backdrop for the festival.
The light festival is thus unconventionally held in daylight.
The second year of the light festival in the unique environment of the kaolin mine in Nevřeň near Pilsen will transport visitors to a fantasy world inspired by Jules Verne's novel - Journey to the Center of the Earth.
The underground spaces will transform into a mysterious landscape full of light effects and visual surprises.
Unique video mappings and light installations await visitors on the 700-meter-long route, which will create the atmosphere of an adventurous journey into the depths of the earth.
We recommend arriving in Nevřeň at least 30 minutes before the start of the respective time slot, visiting the architecturally interesting information center and taking the approximately 15-minute walk through the forest to the mine.
Nevřeň (ZIP code 330 11) is located 9 kilometers from the largest housing estate in Pilsen, Lochotín, and is best reached by car. Parking is available in the village and the forest road leads to the mine up a gentle hill for approximately 15 minutes.
The mine has a constant temperature of around 9°C throughout the year. We recommend comfortable walking shoes.

UNDERGROUND HAPPINESS

Happiness can take many forms. Ours – an underground one – is located in perhaps the most intimate chamber of the entire Nevřeň mine, the so-called Wedding Room. The red button activates one of two dozen short video sequences, some of which are tailored specifically to the festival’s theme. The luckiest visitors may even become part of the projection…

The majestic portal of the most spacious hall in the mine will be covered by an almost three-minute peephole into a fantastic world of flowers, lianas, and plants of all kinds, accompanied by captivating music. The original visual concept by a young studio from Pilsen works with its own imagination and models of Édouard Riou, the main illustrator of Jules Verne.

A creative studio from Pilsen presents a total of three impressive light sculptures – three cocoons at different stages of their development. The cocoons symbolize both physical transformation and changes of thoughts and opinions shaped by age and other events in the surrounding world.

Like Captain Nemo deep underwater, you can observe an impressive ocean from a raised cliff. Calm one moment, stormy or full of glowing plankton the next. This large-scale projection is an experimental project by the BLIK BLIK festival team.

The UV installation of floral arrangements creates the illusion of green walls filled with fantastical plants and creatures from another world, infiltrating the stone walls of the mine like seeds of life.
